Prossime elezioni comunali: cosa si aspettano i cittadini dal futuro sindaco di San Giovanni in Fiore?
Priorità, il potenziamento dell’Ospedale cittadino, subito dopo, lavoro, turismo, raccolta differenziata dei rifiuti, quindi la sistemazione delle strade cittadine e delle buche, decoro urbano.
Anche qui a San Giovanni in Fiore, dopo lo scioglimento anticipato del Consiglio Comunale, causa dimissioni di oltre la metà (ultra dimidium) dei consiglieri, ormai si avvicinano le elezioni e tutti i cittadini residenti, nella prossima primavera, saranno chiamati a presentarsi alle urne per decidere chi dovrà essere il nuovo sindaco del paese.
Ed allora mentre nel “mondo politico locale” iniziano i primi fermenti tra i vari “futuri possibili candidati”, tra primarie, partiti, convegni, incontri, liste civiche, e richieste poco praticabili di collaborazione politica tra forze storicamente sempre avverse senza capire, poi, sulla base di quali programmi e quali obiettivi condivisi, spesso si perde di vista l’opinione delle persone comuni, quelle che vivono la realtà della città e che poi, sostanzialmente, decideranno le sorti elettorali dei vari “protagonisti in campo”.
È tempo di bilanci, dunque, e di riflessioni su quanto è stato fatto per la nostra comunità in questi ultimi anni di amministrazione e non solo, e su quanto, soprattutto, dovrà fare chi otterrà il mandato per governare la città.
Sono così voluto scendere tra le vie della città e chiedere l’opinione concreta di qualche cittadino, artigiano, negoziante, amici, parenti e conoscenti, lasciando da parte, per una volta, i tecnicismi politici, i programmi elettorali, le promesse e le polemiche tra le parti avverse.
E così ho voluto porre delle semplici domande anche a coloro che di primo acchito precisavano: “ Io di politica non ne so nulla e sono fuori da tutti questi discorsi”, o ancora a chi affermava: “Non mi interessa più niente. Non so neppure chi saranno i candidati a sindaco o le liste che dovrò votare.”
Chiedendo, dunque, quale dovrebbe essere una delle prime cose di cui il sindaco che vincerà le prossime elezioni dovrà occuparsi, vediamo che spesso le opinioni di chi vive la comunità di San Giovanni in Fiore convergono. Tanti sono quelli che rispondono senza esitazioni: “La situazione dell’Ospedale è una delle prime cose di cui ci si dovrebbe occupare.” Altri, invece, come qualche anziano: “qui non c’è lavoro e i nostri figli sono tutti condannati ad andare via, sia che siano diplomati o laureati, perché pare che lo studio, oggi, non serva più a niente. Bisogna fare qualcosa affinché non prendano la valigia come abbiamo fatto noi. Lasciare il paese dovrebbe essere una scelta e non un obbligo.”
Altri, soprattutto qualche commerciante, puntano l’attenzione sul discorso del turismo: “Una priorità dovrebbe essere quella di potenziare il turismo. San Giovanni in Fiore non può più essere solo una città per anziani pensionati.” Ed altri: “Si dovrebbero organizzare più manifestazioni ed eventi e pubblicizzarli meglio. In questo paese non si vede mai nessuno, siamo isolati, non arriva mai gente. Adesso non vengono più neanche gli emigranti di una volta, e noi che cosa vendiamo?”
Altri cittadini, infine, puntano sulla raccolta differenziata dei rifiuti sperando che non si verifichino mai più le situazioni di qualche settimana fa. Altri non sono contenti per quanto riguarda la situazione delle strade, non solo delle vie di accesso al paese, che ultimamente dicono che sia peggiorata, ma anche delle vie all’interno della città: “Tutte le strade sono piene di buche e soprattutto, queste, non sono mai segnalate rendendo la viabilità molto pericolosa.”
Ed ho chiesto, in ultimo, se per porre in essere tali iniziative servirebbe un primo cittadino dal “volto giovane”, donna o uomo e appartenente ad una determinata forza politica. Le risposte, più o meno univoche, hanno evidenziato una sorta di disinteresse sia verso l’età, sia verso l’identità di genere. Il pensiero comune, infatti, sembra potersi racchiudere in questa frase ricorrente tra i cittadini sangiovannesi che ho interpellato: “Non importa se sarà un giovane o un anziano, un uomo o una donna, ma quello che serve è una persona capace, onesta, libera e che abbia voglia di ascoltarci guardando al bene della collettività.” Insomma un sindaco con le mani libere senza capi, capetti, padroni e capi-bastone.

Municipal elections: what do citizens want from the future mayor of the City of San Giovanni in Fiore?
First priority is potentiate City Hospital, next jobs, tourism, differentiated waste disposal, then repair town roads and promote urban decor.
Even here in San Giovanni in Fiore, after the early dissolution of the City Council, due to resignation by more than half (ultra dimidium) of the councilors in the last month of October, now with the approaching of new elections, all residents, next spring, will be called to go to the polls to decide who will be the new mayor of the town.
And then while in “local politics” began the first ferments among the various “possible future candidates”, primary elections, parties, conferences, meetings, civic lists, requests of impractical collaboration between political forces historically always adverse, without understanding, then, on the base of what programs and shared goals, often it is lost the opinion of the common people, those who live the reality of the City and then, basically, decide the electoral fate of the various “protagonists afield.”
It is time for reports, therefore, and reflections on what has been done for our community in the last few years of administration and beyond, and what, above all, will do those who will get the mandate to govern the City.
So I wanted to get off the streets of the City and ask the concrete opinion of some citizens, craftsmen, shopkeepers, friends, relatives and acquaintances, leaving aside, for once, the political technicalities, electoral programs, the promises and the controversy between the opposing parties.
And so I wanted to ask some simple questions to those who at first stated: “I do not know anything about politics and I am out of all this talk,” or those who stated: “I do not care anymore. Do not even know who will be the candidates for mayor or the lists that I have to vote.”
Asking, therefore, what should be one of the first things the mayor, who will win the next election, should concern, we see that often the opinions of those who live in San Giovanni in Fiore converge. Many are those who answer without hesitation: “The situation of the Hospital is one of the first things that we should worry for.” Others, however, as some elderly: “Here there is no work and our sons are all doomed to go away, whether undergraduate or graduate, because it seems that the study, today, is no longer worthwhile. Something must be done for them, so they won’t be constrained to take suitcase and leave the City of San Giovanni in Fiore as we did. Leaving the town shoud be a choice and not a constraint.”
Others, especially some traders, pointing attention to the discourse of tourism: “A priority should be the development and growth of tourism. San Giovanni in Fiore can no longer be just a City for elderly pensioners. “And others: “We should organize more demonstrations and events and publicize them better. In this City you never see anyone, we are isolated, nobody arrives here. Now not even come anymore the emigrants of one time , and us what we sell?”
Other citizens, finally, point on differential disposal of municipal waste, hoping that there will be no more bad situations like it happened a few weeks ago when all trashes were on the roads. Others are not happy regarding the situation of the roads, not only of the access routes to the City, which lately got worse, but also of the streets within the City: “All roads are full of potholes and above all, these , are never reported making the roads very dangerous.”
And I asked, finally, whether to put in place such initiatives would be necessary to have a mayor from the “young face”, woman or man, and belonging to a particular political force. The responses, more or less unique, have shown a sort of disinterest both towards the age, both towards gender identity. The common thought, in fact, seems to be able to be included in this recurring phrase among the citizens of San Giovanni in Fiore I asked: “It does not matter if he’s a young or an elderly person, a man or a woman, but what we need is a capable mayor, honest, free and who is willing to listen to us looking to the welfare of the community.” In short, a mayor with free hands without being under any political bosses, leaders or head-stick.
